The latest example of Best-one’s remodelled convenience store format opened in Kilburn, North London, on Saturday.

The 1,800 sq ft store is owned by Ahmed ‘Naz’ Nazir and is the third outlet to open in the symbol group’s new premium format with an enhanced emphasis on fresh and chilled food and food to go. The store features a CDF bake-off, a hot food to go cabinet, a Rollover hot dog unit, a Seattle’s Best coffee machine plus 15 metres of chiller space including 5 metres for grab and go sandwiches and drinks. The store also stocks daily groceries and an extensive licensed range.

The store is on the ground floor of a new housing development. Naz, who has traded in the area for 28 years, previously operated a nearby independent store, which was subject to a compulsory purchase to make way for the new build.

He told C-Store: “In my old store we had just two dairy cabinets, and probably 70% of purchases were made from the counter area. But trends have changed and now we can provide a whole shopping experience. Basket spend is up, and I have already seen some new faces in the store as well as the regulars.

“I’m proud to be bringing this investment to the neighbourhood as part of the redevelopment of the whole area.”
