Spar retailer Pete Cheema is to become president of the Scottish Grocers’ Federation.

Stirling-based Pete, who has been a retailer for 17 years and is director of the Central Scotland Racial Equality Council, takes over from the current president, Hamish Stewart, next February. Stewart said: “I’m delighted that Pete has accepted our invitation and I know he’ll do an excellent job.”

Meanwhile, chief executive Scott Landsburgh leaves the SGF in September to pursue other business interests. The SGF has now set up an appointments committee to find a replacement.
