The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has launched guidance for businesses looking to buy CCTV equipment.

In an effort to illustrate the “complexity of the CCTV standards landscape and help buyers understand what standards they should be looking for”, the BSIA has published an interactive map to give buyers a snapshot of the minimum requirements needed for equipment to be effective.

Chairman of the BSIA’s CCTV section Simon Adcock said the guidance would help those buying security equipment to ensure it was fit for purpose.

“This map gives security buyers a clearer view of the complex world of standards development that can influence the security of their business, and also illustrates the key role played by the BSIA in ensuring that the UK’s CCTV sector continues to provide quality, reliable products and services that meet national and international requirements,” he said.

“Choosing a member of the BSIA gives you peace of mind that your supplier is knowledgeable, reputable and at the forefront of this fast-paced market.”
