Nearly 1,500 convenience stores have now rolled out bigDL’s mobile coupon and beacon technology in store, according to the digital marketing company’s latest results.

The number of bigDL-enabled c-stores increased by 76% in the fourth quarter compared to the previous three months, while app downloads also rose by 76%.

The number of retailer deal views increased by 49% to 462,476. Deals were shared by users almost 80,000 times, up 42% from the third quarter.

The app allows participating stores to showcase their best offers to local customers, including exclusive bigDL coupons which can be redeemed in store.

Matt Norbury, CEO of bigDL, said: “We began marketing the app more aggressively in August and in both Q3 and Q4 we have seen a dramatic rise in app downloads and engagement.

“Having joined forces with the Today’s Group and News UK in 2016, national roll out of our beacon and mobile coupon technology across the convenience sector continues. We are looking forward to continued rapid growth in 2017.”
