Half of the population find the subject of eating and shopping for food boring, according to IGD. Research by the institute found that people compared eating and shopping for food to getting petrol - the only reason for doing it is to keep you running. And when it comes to mealtimes with the family, many people try to avoid them. The survey found that stress levels are higher during family meals and the number
of people who felt unhappy about eating rose by 10% at these times. Much of the stress stems from a lack of confidence when it comes to cooking, with 26% saying that they found cooking new things difficult.
Of those people who say that they have little interest in food, 57% of men and 38% of women avoid watching food programmes.
