Londis retailer Sunder Sandher has celebrated 30 years of running his Leamington store in Warwickshire with a series of themed promotions.

The store was the only independent out of seven in the area to have been under the same owner ship since 1983, and Sunder was keen to highlight this to his customers. He put signs up by the tills thanking customers for their service over the past 30 years and worked with several suppliers to create bespoke promotions.

“I spoke to Cuisine de France and we came up with the idea of offering a 30p discount on bakery goods,” said Sunder. “I was also in touch with Cadbury and Britvic who gave me some free stock, which I then sold at 30p.”

He claimed that the initiative had been a huge hit with customers. “It has created a real talking point. Some younger customers weren’t even born 30 years ago, and others can remember the good old days when we used to have all our fruit and veg outside the store,” he said.
