Nine Leeds Co-op stores in West Yorkshire are ready for Raid Control certification following the launch of the anti-robbery initiative in the region.
West Yorkshire Police is the thirteenth force to sign up to Raid Control. Around 450 stores across the country have adopted the scheme and seen a 90% reduction in robberies.
West Yorkshire has already assessed more than 50 c-stores in Leeds, and nine of Leeds Co-op's 20 stores have been certified as meeting the Raid Control standards.
The Raid Control scheme requires participating retailers to adopt five crime prevention measures to obtain certification: staff training, cash minimisation, time delay systems, operating cameras and stolen cash traceability.
