The Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) is on the hunt for 200 outstanding community retailers that it can showcase to members of Parliament.

As part of the My Shop is Your Shop (MSYS) Small Shops Big Heart campaign, FWD will arrange for MPs to visit these exceptional stores so that retailers can impress them with their excellent community engagement.

The initiative is part of a rejuvenation of the seven-year-old MSYS campaign, with a revised strategy to introduce new customers to the value of shopping locally.

The stores will represent a mix of town centre, neighbourhood and rural shops of various sizes and fascias, and will be presented with a MSYS Gold Award during the MP visit.

FWD chief executive James Bielby said: "By establishing this benchmark of engaged retailing, we hope to give these stores a boost locally, and by inviting the local MP to present the Gold Award, these progressive retailers can impress them with their contribution to the local economy and the life of the community."
