The owner of Rent it Here DVD kiosk service, the Webb Group, has gone into administration, leaving retailers unsure of the future of the service.

The parent company of the DVD rental service, of which there are 300 kiosks in the UK, filed for administration following the company’s “failure to pay its liabilities when they fell due”. Almost 60 members of staff throughout the group have been made redundant.

According to a statement on the company’s website, Francis Graham Newton and Paul James Bates of BDO LLP were appointed Joint Administrators of Webb Group Limited.

A spokeswoman for the administrator has assured Convenience Store that the Rent it Here DVD kiosk service is still fully operational and has not been affected by the the Webb Group’s situation. It advises concerned retailers to contact the service on 0844 557 1558.

Last summer, DVD kiosk operator MovieBooth Ltd was dissolved leaving retailers out of pocket and with equipment taking up space in their stores.
