Budgens sales director Dan Quest is set to take up the role of retail director at Costcutter.

Quest joined the Musgrave Group in May 2002 as head of finance, and since then has also held the posts of head of commercial development and business development director.

As Costcutter implements its new buy and supply strategy Quest’s role will be to “build strong partnerships and relationships that will ensure retailers get the right support and advice on all aspects of their store, including the best product range and category management,” Costcutter said.

He will also be responsible for delivering a long-term sales and member support strategy that will add increased value to members and the Costcutter business.

As part of a longer-term strategy for the Rhythm & Booze brand, current trading director Angela Barber will become managing director of the off licence business Rhythm and Booze. She will remain in her current role until a new trading director is appointed, with Matthew Dashper-Hughes, former joint managing director of Bargain Booze, joining as interim managing director.

The news comes just days after it was revealed that Costcutter marketing director Ian Bishop announced his intentions to leave the group and join Nisa, which does not currently have a marketing director. The search for Bishop’s replacement was already underway, Costcutter’s chief executive Darcy Willson-Rymer added.
