The government has launched its largest ever alcohol awareness campaign, in a bid to educate drinkers and drive down binge drinking.
The Department of Health's 'Know your Limits' campaign hit TV, radio, billboards and national press in mid-May.
Men are being warned that they should not drink more than three to four units a day, and women two to three.
The campaign comes as a YouGov poll reveals widespread ignorance about the units in a typical drink. More than 77% of people did not know that a large glass of wine contained three units, while 35% did not know that an average pint of beer contained two.
However, in a recent Mintel survey only 30% of men said that health warnings on bottles would make them think about how much they drink, and less than half (44%) said they would find it useful to know the number of units they consume.
