Retailers across the UK have thrown their support behind Convenience Store’s Keep Tobacco Over The Counter campaign.

As the September 8 deadline to register protests against the proposed ban on tobacco gantries and 10-packs looms, C-Store has received signed statements and emails opposing the proposals, which will be forwarded to the Department of Health. The campaign, which calls for direct individual action, has inspired many retailers to defend their business.

Shropshire retailer Kate Davies told C-Store: “I am giving customers who buy 10s a leaflet with the petition details in the hope that they will add their voice as the end users who will be affected.”

With the potential ban on tobacco display likely to have an enormous impact on all independent stores, Convenience Store urges all tobacco retailers to make sure their opinions are heard.
