The site housed a former tram garage dating back to pre-World War II and was originally owned by Claremont Cash & Carry, whose business Bestway acquired in 1983.
The new depot is 80,000sq ft with 16 aisles, allowing pallets to be stacked four-high. New tower display panels sit at the end of each aisle and signage directs customers to 20,000 available products.
The Hackney depot is part of a £25m investment in four new cash and carries - the last of which is due to open in London's Tottenham at the beginning of next year.
