The Bestway group has acquired Scottish cash and carry company Bellevue, which has branches in Edinburgh and Stirling.
The two depots will be run as part of the Batleys business, reporting to operations director Martin Race, although former owners Graham and George Benson will remain with the business in consultancy roles and the current senior management team will stay in charge of day-to-day operations. A review will be undertaken to determine the future development strategy for the cash and carries.
Landmark member Bellevue was founded by Graham and George's father John Benson in 1969 and was sold to BWG in 1998 before being bought back by the brothers in 2003.
Managing director Graham Benson commented: "We are extremely pleased to have concluded a deal that is beneficial to both parties. Being part of a much larger organisation will ensure progressive growth for Bellevue and provide added value for our loyal customer base."
In addition, Bestway has purchased a new site in Liverpool, which will become the company's 57th depot when it opens in the autumn.
Chief executive Zameer Choudrey said: "The acquisition of Bellevue will help us to continue to build the Batleys company, something we have always said we wanted to do in Scotland.
"The new Bestway depot in Liverpool will fill a gap in our portfolio in the North West and follows our strategy of building business for independents."
Bestway has an annual turnover of more than £2bn.
