Lynn Eagleton and the staff of Eagletons in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, face persistent abuse from underage customers whom they have refused to serve alcohol and cigarettes, and from their parents.
"Every week we get abuse from parents asking why we haven't sold their children alcohol or cigarettes," she said. "One staff member had a passport thrown in her face by a father because his 17-year-old son was refused alcohol."
Lynn feels her strict enforcement of a No ID No Sale policy goes unacknowledged by Trading Standards.
"When we pass a National Lottery test purchase, a letter is sent out congratulating us," she said. "It's a great boost for the staff and lets us know we've been doing our jobs correctly. It would be great if Trading Standards did the same.
"Taking abuse for doing our job while receiving absolutely no encouragement is unacceptable."
