David Grimes, manager of Parfetts’ recently opened cash and carry in Sheffield, was named independent cash and carry manager of the year at the Federation of Wholesale Distributors’ (FWD) annual Gold Medal awards in London last week.

The award for multiple manager of the year went to Andrew ‘Scooby’ Westwood of Costco in Leeds, while Michael McCann of Bestway in Northampton was named multiple delivered depot manager for his leadership of the local Best-One operation.

Naim Khan of Bestway’s Luton depot won the award for best service to retailers, while young wholesaler of the year was Kuldeep Maini of Maini Cash & Carry, Birmingham. Strongbow was named drinks brand of the year, with Walkers Potato Heads the best grocery brand. PR Alan Twigg was given the Gold Medal for services to the industry.
