Two independent retailers who opened for business the same year as Convenience Store have been honoured at a party at their local Parfetts depot.

Halifax retailers Sid Patel of Sid's Minimarket and Jaswinder Singh of J&H Local were presented with a celebration cake and £100-worth of gift vouchers to spend at the depot.

Parfetts Halifax general manager Jason Lough praised the pair for their the "hard work, long hours and challenges that independent retailing faces".

Jaswinder described the past 25 years as a roller-coaster ride, but said he was looking forward to the future. "The store has changed beyond recognition in the past 25 years, but our attitude has remained the same.

"Customer service is at the heart of everything we do, and always will be."
