A £20,000 reward for information on a shotgun attack on a retailer has been offered up by the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) and Crimestoppers .

The incident took place on 31 October 2013 when two armed robbers entered Show Supermarket in Plaistow, East London. They threatened the 51-year-old retailer and his assistant with a sawn-off shotgun, demanding cash from the till. When the retailers refused, the suspects fleed empty-handed. The two shop workers gave chase leading to the store owner being shot in the chest at close range.

The injured retailer remained in a coma for over two weeks and although he has since been discharged from hospital, he has been unable to return to work due to health reasons.

Detective Sergeant Gary Ferguson of the MPS Flying Squad said “the men are dangerous and need to be found urgently” and urged those with any information to contact Crimestoppers.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family after this horrific incident. We want to help the police, through Crimestoppers, to catch those responsible and we hope that by funding this reward we will play a part in securing more information to support the investigation.”
