The UK’s first Jet and Spar dual-branded site has opened following the launch of the new convenience partnership in April.

The Jet site in Maybole in South Ayrshire is the first to provide the dual-brand offer, having previously worked alongside Premier.

The site has recently undergone significant refurbishment and is now four times its original size, with Maybole’s Post Office now located within the forecourt shop alongside Lottery and Costa coffee facilities.

Jet Maybole’s owner, Brian Connolly, said: “Running this size of store, we needed guidance and Spar has really helped us throughout the redevelopment process.

“We were keen to develop our forecourt offering to establish a modern shop within the town centre. We have been a Jet customer for seven years and when the Jet/Spar agreement was announced this was the perfect solution for us.”

Bill Mair, sales director for CJ Lang & Son Ltd, Spar’s wholesaler for Scotland, said: “We wish Brian and his team every success with the Maybole site. The dual branding looks great and this, coupled with the recent investment in the site, is sure to attract customers old and new to both the forecourt and vastly improved convenience store.

“Thanks to the new partnership with Jet, we’re likely to see Spar’s presence on forecourts increase considerably in the future as more and more dealers see the benefits of partnering with two leading retail brands.”
