The Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) is releasing a second edition of its Gantry Guardians Guide to Tobacco to help small UK retailers prepare for the display ban in six months’ time.

Available from November, the guide will provide retailers with concise information and tools such as a countdown calendar, which highlights the crucial actions they should take each month ahead of 6 April.

The advice for November is to decide on range and start thinking about layout and how much space should be devoted to top sellers.

The guide also includes peer-to-peer advice from high profile retailers including Dean Holborn and Raj Aggarwal.

STG’s head of marketing and public affairs James Higgs said that retailers needed to be “strategic in their preparations”.

“Our countdown calendar is ideal for supporting retailers through this process and can be kept behind the till to help keep them on track with their planning,” he said.

“The simple steps and advice outlined in our Gantry Guardians Guide to Tobacco Part II will help them to prepare and reduce the chances of falling sales once the gantries all go dark,” he added.

Retailers can get a copy of the guide from their sales representative or by contacting customer services on 020 8731 3400 or enquiries.uk@st-group.com.
