One Stop has joined the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS).

The group, which operates over 750 shops in England and Wales, is a subsidiary of Tesco, but has a thriving franchise operation in partnership with independent retailers as well as a company-owned store chain. The membership agreement will include all One Stop branded stores.

Last year, ACS members voted for a change in membership criteria to allow multiple grocery business to join the association as well as those solely focused on convenience. One Stop has been a member of the association before, prior to its acquisition by Tesco in 2003.

ACS chief executive James Lowman said: “We are delighted to welcome One Stop into ACS membership, further strengthening our voice as a body which represents a wide range of convenience retailers on key issues to government. We look forward to working with One Stop in the future.”

One Stop ceo Tony Reed added: “It’s a really positive step for One Stop and the ACS to be working together again. The ACS does an excellent job in ensuring the government is aware of the issues facing our sector and we believe we can play a part by getting involved and helping to raise the profile of their work.”
