Shoppers in Glasgow have been treated to thousands of giveaways and competitions as the bigDL app gears up for its full launch.

The app, which is also integrated with mobile coupon and beacon technology, provides shoppers with in-store and online deals across 70,000 retailers including Today’s and Day-Today convenience stores.

Glasgow shoppers who downloaded the app on 19 August received a free barista style coffee and the chance to spin ‘The Big Deal Wheel’ for a guaranteed prize, including Amazon Kindles, epoints vouchers, mobile power bars.

They also had the chance to take part in a treasure hunt.

There were also 11 golden tickets for giveaways hidden inside Glasgow Day-Today stores.

Britvic, Lucozade & Weetabix were amongst those sponsoring the prizes which included a tablet, Love2shop vouchers, a Fitbit and 30,000 epoints.

The activity was the first piece of consumer marketing bigDL has done as it gears up for full launch. To date the app has relied purely on word of mouth.

The activity proved so successful in terms of downloads and consumer engagement that the company now plans to carry out similar campaigns in the near future.
