Booker Group has racked up another quarter of positive sales growth with total sales up 0.1% in the 12 weeks to 12 September 2014 on the same period last year.

Booker like-for-likes (excluding Makro) were also 1.8% higher with non tobacco like-for-likes up 3.1% and on course to meet expectations for the year ending 27 March 2015.

Total sales for the half year, including Makro, rose by 1.9% on the same period last year with like-for-likes excluding Makro 2.4% higher with non tobacco like-for-likes up 3.4%.

Cash and carry division Booker Wholesale also had a “good” quarter with customer numbers up and sales “in line with expectations,” chief executive Charles Wilson said.

Overall, its delivered wholesale businesses continued to make progress, he added.

The Premier business was also performing well and had started to advertise on TV during the period, said Steve Fox, sales director for retail.

“The advert highlights the great value available and the community aspect of Premier stores. A £3 Euro Shopper basket of groceries is also featured to highlight everyday low prices too.  Family Shopper is progressing in line with our expectations and we remain focussed on improving choice, price and service for all independent retailers,” he added.
